The Clarineo is a fantastic new instrument available on the market for beginners. Essentially a clarinet (but in the key of C), it has many innovative design features specifically aimed at young children.
The instrument is assembled from just 3 parts which makes it quick and easy to set up and put away at the beginning and end of lessons. The main body is built in one piece to eliminate the risk of key damage when assembling (unfortunately common with traditional clarinets).
The body of the Clarineo has been designed to be as light as possible to make it comfortable for small children to play. It is made from a high-quality polymer resin which allows for easy maintenance and great durability.
The tone of the instrument is by no means impeded by the slimmer body size. It’s surprisingly clear and sophisticated for a starter instrument and perhaps more importantly, easy to play. This gives your child enjoyment straight away and the confidence to progress further.
On a clarinet, the tone holes are large and spaced quite far apart. This can lead to problems for a player with small hands. On the Clarineo, the holes are much smaller, making it a lot easier to play.
Traditional cane reeds (Eb clarinet reeds) can be used with the Clarineo as well as synthetic reeds. Reed placement can be an issue when first starting the clarinet and so the plastic reeds provided have been specially designed to clip into place.
The instrument requires little to no maintenance as it has durable silicone rubber pads and the springs are integral with the keys. The range is fully chromatic over three and a half octaves so is suitable for any music from jazz to Mozart.
Available in many different finishes, the Clarineo offers a great looking instrument for an incredibly attractive price.
