The number of children and adults taking woodwind lessons has exploded in recent years. One reason this may be the case is due to the development of plastic woodwind and brass instruments. Having revolutionised this market, Nuvo is the dominating force in the plastic woodwind industry. The DooD, one of their best selling products, is the ideal instrument for children or adults wanting to take their first steps into woodwind playing. With recorder-like fingering and clarinet-style mouthpiece, the DooD comes with a single plastic reed – perfect for practicing embouchure for the first time!
Clarinets, like most woodwind instruments, are incredibly complex. The DooD overcomes fingering obstacles via a unique key cover system which allows smaller fingers to close the tone holes. The DooD is thus a perfect piece of starter kit to introduce anyone to woodwind, or perhaps for older players who played in childhood and now wish to revisit the clarinet without spending a fortune.
This instrument has a chromatic range of one octave, and is supplied with a universal mouthpiece, found on other Nuvo products such as the Clarineo. It is supplied with two Nuvo starter reeds, and higher strength reeds can also be purchased as you make progress. Traditional cane Eb clarinet reeds can also be used with this instrument, should you prefer.
This instrument comes as a complete outfit with fingering chart and instrument case as well as reeds and mouthpiece. This means you have everything you need in one convenient package. The DooD is completely waterproof, and so can be cleaned simply with soap and warm water, eliminating the need for expensive cleaning materials.
The DooD is a robust, easy-to-use introduction to woodwind playing. Thanks to Nuvo's reinvention of woodwind instruments as we know them, there has never been an easier or better time to learn!
