The 'Pocket Trumpet' is normally a second instrument, something to use as a practice horn rather than a main instrument. That said, a pocket trumpet can actually produce a rather nice little sound. It is essentially a squashed version of a standard Bb trumpet. Indeed, if you were to stretch the tubing of this pocket instrument and compare it with the standard one they would be the same length.
The whole idea of a pocket trumpet is that it plays in the same key and has the same range as a standard instrument but with a diminutive stature ideal for transportation.
This Elkhart 100PKT model is only 9.5'' long but has a surprisingly good intonation partly due to the Rose brass lead pipe which gives it a nice mellow sound character. It really is the ideal practice instrument and offers incredibly good value for money.
This outfit is complete with mouthpiece, cleaning materials and a nice little case with backpack straps.
