Great service from Chamberlains, I wanted it in a hurry for my grandson's birthday so phoned and spoke to a very helpful lady and it arrived the next day. I chose the natural finish (the top is actually more blonde than yellow) so that it would look like Grandad's guitar (which is what has got grandson interested). I feel that the natural finish also moves the instrument out of the toy category, and this ukulele is good enough to be treated as much more than a toy. In fact it is excellent value (especially with a case included), and it would be carping to criticise any of the few minor flaws at this price. I'm a very satisfied customer, and so is my grandson! Highly recommended.

I brought this Uke after seeing a review elsewhere and was not disappointed. For the price it is a great little instrument. I use that word on purpose as the Ukes you usually get for this price feel somewhat toy like whereas this just feels like a proper instrument. No it isn't perfect, there are a few minor niggles here and there, but they do not affect the playability or sound. Don't get me wrong it doesn't look shabby at all, the flaws are minor and only really noticeable on close scrutiny. The tuners on mine are a little grindy but they work fine. The intonation is spot on, there is plenty of volume coming out of it and the tone is pleasing to my ears, helped by the great strings. I bought this colour as I like the classic acoustic feel it has to it, and I wasn't disappointed at all, in fact I have gone as far as hanging it on my wall as it looks so nice. For a beginner instrument that will serve you for many years you really cannot go wrong with the Octopus.

These octopus ukuleles are excellent value for money. With their quality pine bodies, mahogany necks, engineered Rosewood fretboards and smart metallic finishes, they're a superb beginners' instrument for people of all ages.
They have proved to be particularly popular with schools; the kids find them easy to tune and they love the bright colours.
Ukuleles provide a great introduction to chord structures, intervals and general having fun making music!
Comes fitted with Aquila Nylgut strings
Octopus ukuleles are fitted with Aquila Nylgut strings, widely considered the ukulele world's best strings for intonation and tone.
Soprano ukuleles use re-entrant tuning, where the strings are not ordered from lowest to highest pitch.

Standard ukulele tuning G C E A

Aggie our ukulele expert says:
This Octopus uke in 'natural yellow' is esentially a mini guitar. It's easier to carry around, easier to strum, fewer strings - the perfect starter instrument! As beginner ukuleles go, I've found that the Octopus UK200s really are unbeatable. The finish is top quality and the Aquila strings make a good, clear sound. Do bear in mind that the tuning can take a week or two to settle and the strings may need pre-stretching - see this blog for really helpful instructions on how to pre-stretch. The bag won't last forever but it's weatherproof and the zip works so what more do you need?"
